It's a DOGFIGHT - New musical opens June 5th!

Farmers Alley Theatre is proud to present the West Michigan Premiere of the critically-acclaimed new musical, DOGFIGHTBased on the 1991 movie of the same name starring the late River Phoenix, this fresh and stirring new musical which premiered Off-Broadway in 2012, already has a fanatical group of followers.  Called “poignant, funny and totally endearing” by AM New York, and nominated for nearly a dozen prominent New York Awards, DOGFIGHT might just be your new favorite musical.  DOGFIGHT runs June 5th through the 21st.

It’s November 21, 1963.  Three young marines set out for one final night of debauchery in San Francisco on the eve of their deployment overseas.  But when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress he enlists to win a cruel bet with his friends, she rewrites the rules of the game and the two share a night they’ll never forget.  Studded with impressive songs from University of Michigan graduates and rising Broadway talent, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Tony nominees for A Christmas Story), DOGFIGHT has a genuine and charming soul that is sure to challenge and inspire its audiences.

DOGFIGHT will be directed by Kathy Mulay who has helmed some of our biggest musicals to date (Cabaret, Next to Normal, The Light in the Piazza).  Catherine A. Walker will serve as the show’s Musical Director.  The show stars a bevy of local talent from Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan, as well as New York, Arizona and Florida.  Our cast includes Nick Angel, Will Branner, Rod Cone, Betsy King, Tyler Leahy, Ashley Marie Lewis, Erica Lustig, Matt Osvog, Barry Riggins, Mary Teutsch and Kendall VanAmburg.

DOGFIGHT runs June 5th through the 21st.  Tickets can be purchased by calling our box office at (269) 343-2727 or by visiting us at www.farmersalleytheatre.com.  Tickets are $34 on Friday/Saturday/Sunday and $32 on Thursday.  Group rates are available.
